The OWSV uses hydraulic intensification — an action-loaded piston creates a pressurized column of water that removes turbulence instead of restricting flow. This produces a shockwave traveling back over the water meter, compressing entrapped air to an undetectable volume and rendering turbulent flow laminar.

Unlike older ‘flow reducer’ valves, the OWSV maintains full bore diameter. A 4" OWSV is 4" inside, whereas a 4" Smart Valve is only 1.9" inside — mimicking how building water pipes gradually taper without sudden interruptions.
With an incoming PSI of 89, a Smart Valve achieved only 7% savings at maximum adjustment. After replacing it with the third-generation OWSV, the building tripled its savings overnight.
